Budding journalists learn how to hold the front page

When pupils at Luton's Bramingham Primary School started work on a project to create a newspaper, they decided to ask for some tips. And Herald&Post editor John Francis was only too happy to pop along and give them some advice about how to make a success of the publication. Responding to an invitation from teacher Barbara Robinson, John - also group editor of Bedfordshire Newspapers, the company behind the Luton News, Dunstable Gazette and the Luton Today and Dunstable Today websites - spent an hour explaining about news sources, the importance of fairness and accuracy in any printed report, and working to a deadline. And he also answered questions about how his team of journalists works throughout the week to provide the area's top newspapers and online news service. The talk was captured on film by Luton Today's Natalee Hazelwood, who also filmed pupils talking about what they would pick to put on the front page of a newspaper about their life. John said: "I always enjoy talking to school groups and the Bramingham youngsters were obviously having a great time with their project." Video report by Natalee Hazelwood.
